Doris V. Jewell

Doris V. Jewell, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2017. Doris was born in Coleridge, Nebraska on March 15, 1925, daughter of the late Ernest and Chloey (Winteringer) Frerichs. On December 26, 1942, she married Clifford Jewell in Ogden, Utah; Cliff preceded her in death in March of 2017.

Doris will be remembered by all as a gentle, quiet, and kind soul who appreciated even the smallest things in life. She loved to craft, sew, crochet, and watch classic game shows on television. Some of her favorite times were spent at the cottage in Lakewood, just taking in the beauty of the outdoors.

She will be dearly missed by her children: Lynette (Dave) Buss and her son: Steve Schmidt (Susie); Jan (Dave) Mossholder and their children: Dennis and Tammy Mossholder; Bob (Kathy) Jewell and their children: Sarah (Bryan) Fletcher, Kelly (Kurt) Bertram, Rob (Cortney) Jewell; Wayne (Michelle) Jewell and Wayne's children: Clifford (Stephanie) Jewell, Aaron Jewell, and Ryan Jewell; and Wayne’s step-children: Tina LaFave and Melissa Avila. Doris also has four great-grandchildren: Gracie and Sophia Saari, Kane Fletcher, and Kruz Bertram; and other relatives and friends. Doris is also survived by her former son-in-law Bob Schmidt and former daughter-in-law Marsha (LaFave) Jewell. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son: Tom Jewell; her husband Clifford, a brother: Floyd; sisters: Mildred and Hazel; and a brother-in-law: Don Jewell.

A prayer service for Doris will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 5:30 PM at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, 537 N. Superior St. Appleton. There will be a time of visitation from 4:00 PM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, there will be a memorial fund established in Doris’ name.
