Doris M. Knoll

Doris M. Knoll, age 82, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2010, at home. Doris was born on March 12, 1928, in Cicero, WI, daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth (Peters) Fischer. She graduated from Appleton West High School in 1947. On January 23, 1954, she married Harold Knoll at Zion Lutheran Church, Appleton. Doris was an avid Brewer fan. She enjoyed collecting bobble head dolls and angels. Doris loved to read, play hand-held games and sheepshead, and crochet. Over time, she made 14 Afghans for family members. Doris spent a lifetime caring for her children and grandchildren, enjoying every moment she spent with them
Doris is survived by her husband, Harold; her children, Susan Lamers, Carol Knoll, Christine (Dennis) Koci, Michael Rogers, all of Appleton, and Timothy (Ann) Rogers, Gresham, WI; grandchildren, Jennifer (William) VanDyke, Jonathan (Jess) Lamers, Tara and Courtney Koci, and Kay Rogers; great-grandchildren, Anthony and Amanda Elston, Kaitlynn VanDyke, and Shelby and Alexa Kallies; one brother, Forrest Fischer, Sheridan, IL; and a sister-in-law, Delores Knoll, Appleton; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was also a special friend to Bill W.
She was further preceded in death by her parents-in-law, Albert and Martha Knoll; two granddaughters, Tina (Rogers) Ashenbrenner, and Hollie (Rogers) Kallies; sisters, Arlene Enger and Eileen Fischer; sisters-in-law, Irene, Virginia, and Margaret Knoll, and Jeannette Kutz.
The funeral services for Doris will be at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, with Rev. Mary Bauer officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private entombment will follow at a later date. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Affinity Health, Theda Care Hospice, and Dr. Shanthi Joseph for their care, compassion, and support.
