Doris M. Ebel

October 19, 1928 — May 31, 2012

Our Lord and Savior lovingly called Doris Ebel to her heavenly home suddenly on Thursday afternoon, May 31, 2012, at the age of 83. Doris was born on the family farm in the Winnebago County town of Black Wolf on October 19, 1928, daughter of the late Ernst and Ruth (Masch) Koelpin. She was a 1946 graduate of the Oshkosh High School, and also attended the Oshkosh Teachers' College. On August 13, 1948, she married Kenneth Ebel at Grace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh; he preceded her in death on October 7, 2000. Many will remember Doris for her many years of working in the Children's Department at the Appleton Sears store. She retired when Ken retired, in 1986. Doris had many loves and many hobbies. She loved crafts of all kinds, including woodcrafting, cross stitch, and other needlecrafts, and enjoyed reading, bird watching, jigsaw puzzles, and her flower garden. She was a longtime and faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, where in her younger years served as a leader and as president of the Lutheran Girl Pioneers.

Doris is survived by five children: Sharon Ebel of Milwaukee and her sons Russ Nadasdy and Greg Nadasdy; John (Debbie) Ebel of Appleton and their children Sara Ebel and Matt Ebel; Cindy (George) Tigges of Racine and their children Missy (Jeff) Kmieciak and Tony Lutkus; Tom Ebel of Appleton; and Kitty (Mark) Feivor of Appleton and their children Cory Feivor and his fiancée Marco Maas, and Amy Feivor. Doris is also survived by a brother-in-law: Art Ebel of Oshkosh and two sisters-in-law: Valoyce “Boots” Ebel and Dolores (Dick) Hunt, all of Oshkosh. There are also many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister Helen (Ralph) Snell and a brother Len (Gertrude) Koelpin.

The Christian Funeral for Doris will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street in Appleton with Rev. Kenneth Frey officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Memorial Park in Oshkosh. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and again at the church on Tuesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established for St. Paul Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.

The family would like to thank the staff and residents at the Appleton Retirement Center for loving, caring for, and befriending Doris. We will never forget your kindness.
