Doris Ann Hoeft, age 87, died on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Appleton Health Care Center. Doris was born in Mellen, Wisconsin on July 14, 1922, the daughter of the late Harry “Gil” Gilbert and Lottie (Halverson) Bowers. After graduating from Mellen High School, she attended Wausau Business College, where she met and married Clarence “Chez” Hoeft on May 19th, 1945.

The Hoeft family joined Faith Lutheran Church in October, 1950, where Doris and Chez were active members throughout the years. Doris was a wonderful mother of four children, worked at Dr.'s Park for Dr. Claypool and several other Dr.'s, was a member of the Appleton Jaycettes, a member of the Appleton women's club, a lifetime member of the Appleton Medical Center Auxiliary, enjoyed volunteering at the Appleton Medical Center as a Pink Lady for 17 years, being Chairman and Co-Chairman of the Auxiliary Holiday Bazaar, and most recently volunteering for 7 years with “United for Reading Success” as a tutor. She also enjoyed playing bridge with several bridge clubs for more than 50 years and truly loved the many friendships she made along the way.

Doris is lovingly survived by her husband of almost 65 years of marriage, Chez Hoeft; sons: Richard Hoeft of Naples, Florida, Thomas (Janet) Hoeft of Northport, New York; daughters, Mary Grothe of Overland Park, Kansas, Betty (John) Netwal of Onalaska; granddaughters: Jessica and Erica (Tom) of New York; sister-in-law, Marion Pudleiner, brother-in-law, Al Burmeister and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ruthmary Penick and sister and brother-in-law, Verajane (Paul) Thomson, sister-in-law, Evie Burmeister, brother-in-law, Al Pudleiner and son-in-law, George Grothe.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Faith Lutheran Church, 601 E. Glendale Avenue, Appleton with the Rev. Paul Brinkman officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. The committal will be held at a later date in Abbotsford Cemetery on the family plot.

In lieu of flowers, please send memorials in Doris' name to Appleton Health Care Center.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to Dad for taking such wonderful care of Mom these last couple years, to Dr. Jack Anderson for his healing hands, to the entire staff at Appleton Health Care Center and especially to Kay Larson and the Unit 1 staff. We appreciate everything you did to make Mom's life better. We can't thank you enough.
