Dona Mae Schimmelpfenning

July 21, 1939 — September 10, 2011

Schimmelpfenning, Dona Mae
(Danley)
Appleton

Out of the arms of my family, into the arms of my Lord on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the age of 72.

On July 21, 1939 I was given life to a wonderful family, Silas and Martha Danley. I was born in Clintonville, but also lived in Embarrass and grew up in Marion. It was a wonderful time in my life. On September 27, 1958 I wed Earl Schimmelpfenning. We were married for 48 years when Earl passed away on March 23, 2007. We had two children: Cindy Lou and Kim Marie. Cindy married Jeffery Ashauer. My life was made complete when they gave us four grandsons: Jesse (Becky), Justin (Rachel), Matthew, and Maxwell Ashauer. We were blessed with two grandchildren from Kim; Nicholas Reiter and Courtney Jo Kepler. I was blessed with four great-grandchildren in the last couple years: Annabelle, Jackson, Ella, and Gracelyn.

I was employed by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Appleton, for 24 years retiring on April 1, 2003. I am survived by my two sisters: Marge Gretzinger, Blanche (John) Garofalo, and sister-in-law, but really sister, Delores Danley. My sisters-in-law: Doris Handler, Ruth (Charlie) Ziegler, and my brother-in-law, Marvin (Marion) Schimmelpfenning. I also have many nieces and nephews which I treasured dearly. I lost my brother, Clarence on February 1, 1999. I also lost my brothers-in-law: Norman and Lorraine Schimmelpfenning, Raymond Handler, Raymond Hertzfeld, and Frank Gretzinger.

I have met so many people over the years in my volunteer life and as my work with Aid Association for Lutherans (Thrivent Financial) as a fraternal specialist. It made my life very special.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2011 at OUR SAVIOR’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3009 N. Meade St., Appleton, with Rev. Kurt Hoffman officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park.

In the corner of our hearts is a place called memory, where we can go to find comfort. Though I have left you, we have so many memories to reach back and remember, our love will always carry us on.
