Diane Briggs, age 63, of Appleton, passed away unexpectedly at her home due to a heart attack on Saturday, September 18, 2010. She was born on November 8, 1946, in Madison, Wisconsin, the only child of the Inez (Christopherson) Schimelpfenig and the late Roland Schimelpfenig. Diane attended the University of Wisconsin—Madison prior to her move to Appleton. She was employed at Crescent Electric Supply Company in Appleton for over 31 years, most recently as Project Specialist. Diane's mother came to live with her five years ago and made Diane's life complete. She loved her home and yard and was outside every chance she had. Diane and her mother loved their flowers and worked on them from early spring to late fall. She loved nothing more than taking a friend for a walk around her back yard and telling stories about her favorite flowers and their names. Diane also looked forward to her antique trips with her friend, Lynn. She was a very private person, but had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone who was in need. Diane was looking forward to retirement in two years. She is survived by her mother Inez Schimlepfenig, Appleton, will be dearly missed by her best friend, Lynn (David) Jewell Buss, and her co-workers at Crescent Electric who became like her family. Memorial services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME, Appleton, with Rev. Ron Ash officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
