Dawn E. Petermann

July 6, 1928 — November 16, 2016

Dawn Petermann, age 88 of Appleton, was called to her Lord's side on Wednesday night, November 16, 2016. Dawn was born in Algoma, WI on July 6, 1928, daughter of the late Emil and Eva (Holdorf) Storm. After high school, she attended Martin Luther College for a short time, but left to accept an emergency call to teach in Belle Plaine, Minnesota. Following her teaching there, she married Kurt R. Petermann in 1948. Together, the couple was blessed with more than fifty years together and nine children. For many of those years, Kurt served as principal at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran School in Appleton. While raising her children, Dawn also babysat other children. After the youngest of the children entered school, Dawn returned to the workforce, and was employed at AAL (Thrivent) for fourteen years.

Dawn was actively involved in St. Paul church activities: singing in the choir, participating in LWMS and Ladies Aid, teaching ESL in the Hmong ministry. She enjoyed collecting lighthouse memorabilia, camping, flower gardening, bird watching, doing crafts, canning, singing around the piano and attending grandchildren's events.

Dawn is survived by her nine loving children:
Tim (Vicky) Petermann of Eau Claire, WI and children Matt, Lisa (Ryan and children Madilin & Noah) and Josh (Steph and son Nolan).

Jim (Ann) Petermann of Saukville, WI and children Jenni (Nate Berg and children Emma, Chloe, Aidan & Ben), Rachel and Katie (Kelly Huet and children Micah & Ellen).

Geoff (Carla) Petermann of Appleton, WI and children Becky (John Ryan and their children Raegan, Jocelyn & Cayden) and Sarah (fiancé Aaron Bagley).

Joel (Jane) Petermann of Saginaw, Michigan and children Lena, Sophie and Ethan.

Bob (Karen) Petermann of Clintonville, WI and children Megan (fiancé Justin Ross), Kyle and Tyler.

Annie and (Amos) Vogel of Morgan, Minnesota and children MacKenze, Mariah and Katrina.

Susan Menk of Manitowoc, WI and children Joel, David and Jonathan.

Gloria (Jeff) Foat of Neenah, WI and children Justin (Gabby and their children Ember, Christian & Miranda), Adam, Kevin (fiance' Dyane Bisby and their children Claire & Jeffy) and Erik (Dawn and their children Rylee & Brady).

Dede (Ryan) Rosenthal of Fond du Lac, WI and children Charlie, Jeremiah, Daryan, Sebastian, Quintin and Thaddeus.

Dawn is also survived by two brothers: Stuart (Lorraine) Storm of Algoma, WI and Steven (Linda) Storm of Mississippi; and three sisters-in-law: Carole Storm of Monona, WI; Charlyn Petermann of Minnesota; and Ellen Petermann of California. There are also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Dawn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kurt in 1999, brothers Robert Storm and Richard (Marcella) Storm, sister Beulah (John) Hucek, two brothers-in-law Rev. Martin Petermann and Arthur Petermann, and two sisters-in-law Esther (Victor) Moldenhauer and Ruth (John) Metzger.
