I grew up with Dave in Copper City, Michigan. I was a year ahead of him in school, through 8th grade at the Copper City School and then at Calumet HS, We played on the same Little League baseball teams. Though I hadn't seen Dave since then, I offer my condolences to Karla and the rest of Dave's family.

What I, among many others, appreciated about and in Dave was his level-headedness, his way of reminding all of us that for all the sometimes strident conversation, there were good, long-established and traditional reasons why things are set up the way they are--in short, that others of some intelligence and even wisdom have gone before us--and he was one of them. Love to all of his family. Pete Fritzell
