Darlene L. Koehler

June 18, 1928 — December 26, 2014

Darlene Koehler, age 86, of Chilton, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Chilton Care Center.

She was born on June 18, 1928, in Charlestown, the daughter of the late Martin and Leona (Mathes) Schmidt. Darlene was involved on the family farm in Charlestown for over 40 years, and also owned the Chilton Downtowner from 1975 until 1981. Darlene worked at the Chilton Care Center for 18 years, starting in 1985 and eventually becoming a CNA, fulfilling her dream to care for the elderly in a very loving and compassionate way. She had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and offered good Christian advice to many. Darlene was a member of the Brillion Community Church, and Eagle Club in Chilton. The smell of homemade bread and cookies baking in her home will also be missed.

Darlene is survived by her children: Barbara Steudel, Larry (Sue) Koehler, and Robert (Lisa) Koehler; daughter-in-law Susan Koehler; grandchildren: Jill Koehler; Luke (Bobbie) Steudel and Lorraine (Daniel) Flores; Jeremiah Koehler, Rhainnon Koehler, and Katie (Mitch) Fowler; Brittany Sack, Tyler (Jessica) Sack, and Mattece Charlton; six great grandchildren; siblings: Delbert (Joan) Schmidt, Eileen (Rev. Glen) Beers, and Richard (Audrey) Schmidt; and sisters-in-law Laverne Schmidt and Lou Ann Schmidt. She is further survived by special friends, Kay Hechel and Jane Hertel, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Darlene was preceded in death by her son Lloyd Koehler, daughter Sandra Koehler, and brothers, Ronald Schmidt, Martin Schmidt and Harvey Schmidt.

The funeral service for Darlene will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 1592 Oneida Street in Menasha. Rev. Sam Timm will be officiating. Inurnment will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Rantoul. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 am until the time of service. Memorials are appreciated to Brillion Community Church or The Salvation Army. Online condolences can be offered at www.wichmannfargo.com.
