Daniel E. Sauve

Daniel E. Sauve, age 87, died on June 13, 2009 at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. Dan was born in Menominee, Michigan on July 3, 1921, son of the late Ulon and Ann (Linser) Sauve. On March 21, 1947, Dan married the former Eleanore Richards; she survives. He was employed by the P.H. Glatfelter (Bergstrom) Paper Company as Traffic Manager for twenty-four years prior to his retirement in 1984. Dan was a World War II veteran, having served in the Coast Guard as an aviation pilot in a naval air rescue unit. He was a longtime member of the Fox Valley Traffic Club, Delta Nu Alpha Traffic Fraternity, Johnston-Blessman Post #38 of the American Legion, and the Retired Transportation Society.

Dan received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1950 and a Master of Business Administration from University of Wisconsin – Ashland in 1973. He also graduated from the College of Advanced Transportation and was admitted to practice as an Interstate Commerce Commission Practitioner on October 11, 1955. Dan taught courses in transportation at Fox Valley Technical College for twenty-five years.

He is survived by his wife: Eleanore Sauve of Appleton; two children: Colette Lenzner of Appleton and Dennis (Deb) Sauve of Heathsville, Virginia; six grandchildren: Brent (Kim) Lenzner, Brad Lenzner, Heidi (Ben Vicere) Lenzner, Renee (John) Christian, Amanda (Mike) Vuolo, and Samantha (Randy) Clingman; and four great-grandchildren: Janel, Alexa, Zoe, and Anika. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Carmen (Ed) House.

In keeping with Dan's final wishes, there will be no visitation or service.
