Anna (Minik) Luthens left a message on April 18, 2011:
May you find strength in the love of family and happy memories of your aunt, sister, cousin and friend in light of this tragedy. My mom, Janice Minik (nee Coe), and Colleen were college roomates and subsequently lifelong friends. I have seen her beautiful nursing photo and heard wonderful stories of shared clothes and good times since my childhood. Their friendship through miles and years has always been an example to uphold for me. Recently, my youngest son celebrated a birthday and chose to collect money for the Humane Society in lieu of gifts. We would be honored to give the $75 donation to Fox Valley Humane Society in memory of Colleen. With sincere condolences, Anna (Minik) Luthens & family

I am so sad to hear about Colleen. We were high school sweethearts in the 50's and will always remember the dances and good times we shared with friends. I always regret that I did not see her again. I will always remember her.

I've been thinking alot about Colleen since I heard of her tragic death. We were nrsg. students together at Milwaukee County in the late 1950's and she was my maid of honor in 1960. Had to get out the pictures. [Not something I do very often]. She was one classy looking lady. I left the state soon after but we always stayed in touch. She was always so much fun to be around. I will miss her but never forget her. Barbara

To Colleen's family: I was so sad to hear about Colleen's tragic passing. I remember her from North Heights Vet Clinic (I'm a receptionist there). Of all the clients we see every day, I can remember Colleen clearly. I remember her smile and her love for her dogs, most recently "Miss Abbie". God bless your family during this difficult and trying time. Remember the wonderful moments you shared. Even though I didn't know her more than a passing acquaintance, I can tell you, her beautiful spirit and love for others was more than obvious. If she made such an impact on me, I know how very much you, her family, will miss her. Again, my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to your entire family.

I will always treasure the memories of Colleen and the good times we had together. I had the privledge of traveling to Europe and to Florida with her as well as working with her for several years. She loved her family dearly, and was so proud of her nieces and nephew. She got so much pleasure buying gifts for them and being part of their celebrations. Her love of her animals was always evident and their constant devotion to her through both good times and bad proved to be a rock in her life. In most recent years, Colleen attended some Bible Studies with ladies from our church and went on to accept Christ as her Lord and Saviour. It brought great joy to her and it is such a comfort to know that she is now released from her burdens and present with her Lord. I will miss Colleen dearly, and extend my sympathy to her family. Colleen, Words can not express the gratitude I feel for everything you did for me over the years. You were my night nurse when I had my son, so you went through the hardest stuff with me. For that, I can never thank you enough. When I was totally broke and so far down, you helped to bring me back to life. I will hold you in my heart forever. Amy
