“Clem”

Age 74, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Appleton Medical Center, from complications due to pneumonia. Clem was born on March 23, 1929, in Appleton, to the late John and Esther Palmbach. He married Myrtle Schroeder on December 17, 1949. Clem was a 36 year employee of Wisconsin Electric Power Company, where he worked as Line Foreman and District Representative in Hilbert and the surrounding area. He was a 12 year member of the Co.D, 127th Infantry Association and its 40 club. Clem was active in many community and youth organizations, among them the St. Paul Lutheran Pioneers for Children program and the Volunteers in Probation Program of Outagamie County. He loved camping and refinishing antique furniture. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Myrtle; his three children John Palmbach (friend Tara Lucas), Jane (Greg) Gibbons and James (Linda) Palmbach; his eight grandchildren, John, Jo Lynn, Andrew, Kathleen and Mark Palmbach, Tausha Franklin, Jenny (Doug) Ellis and Laura Gibbons; his great-grandchildren, Megan and Christopher Ellis and Morgan Franklin; his sisters-in-law, Janet and Verna Palmbach; his step-sisters and brothers, Dorothy (Thomas) Schommer, Ione Schommer, Susan (Walter) Dreschel and Nancy Schommer. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Elda Schommer Palmbach; his brothers, Richard and Eugene Palmbach; his step-brothers, Richard and Paul Schommer; his sister-in-law, Naomi (Carl) Krueger; father and mother-in-law, Harvey (Mathilda) Schroeder. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2003, at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 North Morrison Street, Appleton, with Rev. Kenneth L. Frey officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again directly at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Rev. Ralph Waack, Rev. Kenneth Frey and Rev. John Baumann of St. Paul Church, Dr. Jack Anderson and the staff at AMC for all their help now and over the years, with special blessings to the ICU Unit. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his name to benefit the Handicapped Access Fund at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church.
