Chester Rammer, of Appleton, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 18, 2008 at Manor Care with his family at his side. He was born July 4, 1920 in Appleton, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Hoffman) Rammer. Chester served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe. He was a mason by trade in the Appleton area and later a partner in Master Masonry. Chester was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time at Woodtick Acres.
Chester is survived by his loving wife of 58 years; Muriel (nee Suehs) Rammer; 6 children: Michael (Karen) Rammer and daughter Sarah; Becky (Rick) Griesser and children Richie (fiancée Samantha) and Emily; Gail Rammer and children Julie and John Veternick; Karen (Jack) Bartelt and son Luke; Scott (Gwen) Rammer and children Andy, Katie, Daniel and Elizabeth and Paul (Chris) Rammer and children Matthew, Melissa, Nicole, Jamie and Stephanie; sister-in-law: Sylvia Collins; brothers-in-law: Carl (Loyola) Suehs and Ralph Gertsch. He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and his cat Sheba. Chester was preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters: Margaret, Germaine, Lucille, Agnes and two infant sisters Cecelia and Isabelle; 2 brothers: Ed and Joe.
The funeral service for Chester will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Judy Deckert officiating. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. A visitation will be held on Thursday at the Funeral Home from 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Grace Lutheran Church are appreciated.
