Charlotte E. Anker

January 23, 1928 — December 14, 2015

On Monday December 14, 2015 our precious mom slipped peacefully from this earthly life into the arms of Jesus and the joy of heaven. Charlotte Elaine (Scott) Anker, age 87, of Appleton, Wisconsin was born on January 23, 1928 in Janesville, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Elmer and Leda (Heggestad) Scott.

“Scottie” graduated from Clinton High School and Mercy School of Nursing in Janesville. On September 30, 1950 she married our beloved dad, Claire Gordon Anker, who preceded her in death in July, 2010.

Mom worked at the Clintonville Community Hospital for 39 years as an operating and emergency room nurse, as well as volunteering as an EMT and CPR instructor. Nursing was the perfect occupation for her as she was a natural caregiver and nurturer. Mom especially loved playing golf and bridge, but she had fun and was competitive in every game she played. Mom and dad were always entertaining family and friends at their home on Pine Lake. She was a wonderful cook and our home was well known as the gathering place for fun and celebrations. She was an avid Brewer and Packer fan, but her fondest memories were spent watching her grandchildren grow up and cheering them on at whatever sport or activity they were involved in. Mom and dad traveled the world and after their retirement enjoyed wintering in Florida, Texas, and Arizona.

Mom graciously dedicated her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, family, and friends. She is survived by her three daughters, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is survived by daughter Pamela Kay (Peter) Zingler of Wausau and their children: Jacob Peter (Olivia) Zingler, Sabrina Marie (Robb) Harris, and Sheila Lynn (David) Schneider; daughter Debra Marie (Eric) Burnett of Portland, Texas and their children: Benjamin Eric (Heather) Burnett, Brianna Marie Burnett, and Bethany Charlotte Burnett; daughter Sandra Lynn (Dennis) Lange of Appleton and their sons: Jared Ross Lange and Brandon William (Fiona) Lange; five precious great-grandchildren: Lila Jo and Holly Claire Burnett, William Albert Schneider, Theodore Norman and Felicity Charlotte Harris; her sister: Patricia Ann Playter; and sisters-in-law Betty Heideman and Lois Anker.

She was preceded in death by her sister: Betty Jane Scott; brother: Ronald (Elizabeth) Scott, and by brothers-in-law: Donald Playter, Edward Heideman, and Allen Anker.

A memorial service for Scottie will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 21, 2015 at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 601 E. Glendale Avenue in Appleton, with Rev. Rudy Herbrich officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends directly at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Inurnment will take place in Embarrass, Wisconsin, alongside her beloved husband Claire.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Celebration Lutheran School or a charity of your choice.
