Charlotte A. Guckenberger

October 27, 1935 — September 17, 2020

Charlotte A. Guckenberger, 84, Appleton, much loved matriarch, mother, grandma, and great grandma has joined the angels. Heaven’s gates swung open in the early morning hours of September 17, 2020 and Charlotte, AKA “Mom”, “Grandma”, “Grandma Geep” put on her wings to become a heavenly angel. She fought a lengthy and courageous battle with dementia.

She was born October 27, 1935 to the late Matthias and Valesca (Stommel) Hopfensperger. She married Anthony C. Guckenberger on August 3, 1954. He preceded her in death on May 12, 2002.

She liked to cook, liked to tend to her flower gardens and looked forward to family get-togethers. Her “most important job ever” was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her whole family can attest to the fact the world rotated around her family.  She enjoyed spending time with them, no matter how short or long the visit. The contact could be in person or on the phone and in recent times, using technology. A visit was not complete until she would say she loved you.

Left feeling the void of Mom are her loving children: Mark (Debbie) Guckenberger, Cindy (Rick) DeBruin, David (Debra) Guckenberger, Donald (special friend Jennifer Wichman) and Vicki (Charles) Sahr.

Left to hold fond and fun memories of Grandma are her admiring grandchildren: Christie (Corey) Roebke, Becca (Brian) Vanderloop, Zach (Katie) Guckenberger, Aaron (Michelle Luedecke) Guckenberger, Dr. John (Dr. Hannah Pezzi) Guckenberger, Mac (Brooke Brennan) Guckenberger, Alex Guckenberger, Michael (Traci Hendricks) Guckenberger, Michelle (Kurt Rose) Guckenberger, Dr. Natasha (Nicholas Simonis) Sahr and CPT Jacob (Michaela) Sahr.

Left to cherish her as “Grandma Geep” are her great grandchildren: Noah, Kayde, Ella, Hazel, Hunter and Jaxon.

She is additionally survived by her siblings Carl (Carolyn) Hopfensperger, Donna Bouressa, James (Joyce) Hopfensperger, sister in-law Bonnie Hopfensperger, god children, numerous nieces and nephews.

Waiting for her in heaven are parents, Matt and Valesca (Lessie); husband, Tony; father and mother in-law, Christian and Jennie (Schuh)Guckenberger; her sisters, Eugenia (John) Hoffman, Ernesta (Art) Wysocki, Geneva (John) Hanges, Ranetta (Bob) Voigt, and Sharon (Hopfensperger);  her bothers Edgar (Irene), Elwood (Joan), Matt (Joan) and Gregory; brother in-law, Joe Bouressa and sisters in-law, Evelyn Guckenberger, Mildred (Larry) Kuklinski, Rita (Andy) Boehnlein.

The family would like to thank the staff of Frontida Assisted Living of Kimberly for the genuine and reassuring care provided. We would also like to thank the staff of Brewster Village – Homestead for the wonderful care and concern for our mother.

In honoring her wishes, a private family service is being held.
