Charles Schilcher

December 29, 1957 — April 4, 2016

Charles Steven Schilcher, age 58, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Monday, April 4, 2016, at his home in Green Bay. Chuck was born in Appleton on December 29, 1957, son of Emilye Brumbaugh and the late Alvin Schilcher.

Chuck had a passion for bicycling. He rode his bike continuously from early spring to late fall throughout his life. This was Chuck's only form of transportation, as his neuromuscular disease, Charcot Marie Tooth or “CMT” prevented him from driving. During Chuck's healthier days, he worked at Tilot Oil, a truck stop in De Pere. He had a great interest in truck driving and enjoyed conversing with the truck drivers about their travel stories.

Chuck was always up on current news and events and enjoyed talking with family and friends about what was going on in the world. He was a good source for the current weather predictions. Chuck enjoyed the outdoors and it was important to him to spend as much time as possible outdoors. He was a good cook and enjoyed making soups and meat dishes. Chuck loved to sit and chat with a pot of coffee brewing. Chuck will always be known for his great sense of humor and how he enjoyed lovingly teasing others.

Chuck will be greatly missed by his mother: Emilye (Len) Brumbaugh: his sisters: Chris (very significant other Mike Suess) Wadzinski and Sally (Fiancé Craig Smith) Hugley; his brothers: Paul Schilcher, Tom (Lisa) Schilcher, and Pat (Jen) Schilcher; sister-in-law: Carol Schilcher; and his sons: Steven and Brian Schilcher and their mother Lois Collins. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and special friend Joyce Belter. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother Jim Schilcher.

The funeral service for Chuck will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL (1592 Oneida Street, Menasha) with Deacon Rick Simon officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Chuck will be laid to rest next to his father at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Oshkosh on Monday, April 11, 2016.

Chuck's family would like to thank Mr. Jeb Dorn for his friendship and attentiveness to Chuck's needs.

Chuck was a very kind and compassionate man that loved his family and friends. He could carry on a great conversation and was good at adding humor. We will always remember Chuck riding his bike and wish that he could have taken his bike with him to heaven. Our family will greatly miss him in our lives.
