Charles M. List, Jr.

Charles Michael List, Jr., age 85, of Appleton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at Cherry Meadows of Appleton.

Charlie was born on December 22, 1933 in Pella, Wisconsin, the fourth son of the late Charles and Lydia (Reinke) List, Sr. Following graduation from Marion High School, he served in the U.S. Army for two years before joining the Appleton Police Department, with Charlie concluding a 31 year career as a Detective when he retired in 1988. He married Joyce J. Hohn on September 7, 1957 at Elisa Lutheran Church in the town of Herman. Together they would raise 3 children in their Appleton home.

In his spare time Charlie loved deer hunting.

Charles is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce; children, Donna (Greg) Hintz of Appleton, Dennis (Connie) of Appleton and David (friend, Deb Verhyen) of Hortonville; grandchildren, Nathan Hintz, Lauren Hintz, Avery Hintz, Cody (Josalynn) Kronberg, Sean (Rayssa) Kronberg; 4 great-grandchildren; many dear family and friends.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister.

A Memorial Service will be officiated for Charlie at 11:30 AM on Friday, November 8, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Chruch, 912 N. Oneida St., Appleton, WI 54911, by Rev. Catherine Burnette. Family and friends may visit at the church from 9:30 AM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a portion of memorial contributions made to the family will be donated to some of Charlie’s favorite charities.
