Charles M. "Chuck" Hegner

October 9, 1943 — January 16, 2013

Chuck, affectionately known as “Grumpy” by his children, age 69, of Kaukauna, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on October 9, 1943, in Appleton, the son of Merlin and Lucille (Brightman) Hegner. On May 30, 1966, Chuck married Marilyn Paltzer at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton. He served his country in the U.S. Army. Chuck was employed at Chicago Northwestern from 1966 until 1979, and retired in 2005 from Pierce Manufacturing. He loved spending time on the water or in the woods, and was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hegner; five children: Kathy “Kat” Clancy; Kenny Hegner; Bruce (Tammy) Hegner; Marty Hegner; and Claire Hegner; ten grandchildren; his mother, Lucille Hegner; brothers: Gene (Mary Lou), Bob (Kathy), and Ken (Bonnie) Hegner; sisters: Anna Hegner, and Kay (Kutz) Hemauer. He was preceded in death by his father, Merlin Hegner; son-in-law, Gerry Clancy; and daughter-in-law, Kelly Wilquet.
The memorial service for Chuck along with military honors will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Wichmann Funeral Home downtown chapel. Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara will be officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00 pm until the time of service. Online condolences can be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
