Carol J. Kahler

Carol (Popp) Kahler, age 80, passed away on January 8, 2018. She was born in Brillion on June 8, 1937, daughter of the late Emil and Edna (Labitzke) Popp. Carol was baptized on June 27, 1937 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brillion. The family relocated to Neenah in 1941 where Carol attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School and was confirmed on May 13, 1951. Carol remained a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran her entire life. She graduated from Neenah High School on her 18th birthday - June 8, 1955.

Carol enjoyed lifelong friendships with her dear high school classmates and her card club friends. Eating out and playing cards were among her favorite activities. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother with the heart Christ, showing unconditional love to her grateful family.

Carol began treatments for her blood disorder (MDS) in 2014 and had been in remission for a year when her MDS returned in August of 2017. In September of 2016, Carol had a stroke which eventually led to her move to her daughter Amie’s household to recover in February of 2017. Unfortunately, after the return of her MDS, she became too weak to receive treatments, and entered hospice care in Amie’s home. Her health declined rapidly after Thanksgiving due to a mini-stroke, which left her bedridden. She was lovingly cared for by both of her daughters, Amie and Julie, since her husband’s passing.

Carol married Orlin Alvin Kahler on May 31, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran in Neenah, and the good Lord blessed them with fifty-eight years together and three daughters.

She is survived by two daughters: Amie (Dan) Klemp-Saar of Mukwonago and Julie (Marc) Dimino of Madison. Her grandchildren are Christine (Brian) Plamann of Elkhart Lake; Katie (Kyle) Zeamer of Appleton; and Steven, Christopher, and Timothy Dimino, all of Madison; and Rachel and Hannah Klemp of Mukwonago. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Orlie, a daughter Lynn Geiger, a grandson Peter Dimino, a great-granddaughter Brooklynn Zeamer, a son-in-law Douglas Klemp, a brother Ruben (Marge) Popp, her step-father Paul Kuchenbecker, a step-brother Gerald Kuchenbecker, and a step-sister Jean (Bill) Lawson.

The Christian Funeral Service for Carol will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 20, 2018 TRINTIY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 407 Oak Street in Neenah, with Rev. Douglas Engelbrecht officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established at Trinity Lutheran Church and Time of Grace Ministries. The family is grateful to Dr. Conkright of FVHO and Dr. Michaelis of Froedtert Cancer Center. They would also like to acknowledge the home care professionals who lovingly showed compassion and brought joy to the house: Affinity Home Cares, PT Angie, OT Diane, ST Brian, Vitas Hospice Cares RN Tammy, aide Karen, and ADL’s aide Jenny.

We find comfort knowing that Carol and Orlie are sharing in the eternal joys of heaven, with Jesus their Savior.
