Calvin C. Stammer

June 18, 1927 — July 5, 2021

Calvin Stammer, 94, of Appleton, WI, a devout Christian man, went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2021 at 3:15 am while holding his wife, Irma’s, hand along with his son by his side.

Cal was born on June 18, 1927 in Appleton, WI to the late Clifford & Manila Stammer.  Cal & Irma were married on November 25, 1950 in Appleton, WI and had 2 children, Robert & Pamela. He proudly served in the United States Army for 23 years. Active from 1945 – 1947 and then in the reserves for 21 years. Cal had a successful career with Cal Stammer Decorators for over 40 Year in the Appleton area.

He was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed countless hours fishing, hunting, gardening, and painting. Also Cal & Irma spent over 30 years spending winters in Arizona with the Manning family. They also enjoyed many vacations, cruises and lots of time at the cottage that Cal built in Waupaca.

As much as he enjoyed his career and outdoor activities, his true passion was his family, as a husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather. He spent countless hours alongside each of them showing them how to fish, hunt, plant flowers, care for the yard and even helped some of the grandchildren develop a passion for different forms of artistic expression.

Cal is gracefully survived by his wife of 70+ years, Irma Stammer, daughter Pamela Manning (Ray) of Phx, AZ, son Robert “Bob/Buck” Stammer (Donna) of Hortonville, WI, granddaughter Nicole Asmus (Andy) of Phx, AZ, Colette Manning of Phx, AZ, grandson Calvin Stammer (Erin) of Appleton, WI, great-grandchildren Andrew (23y), Raegan (21y), Emilee (18y) Asmus of Phx, AZ, Alexander Manning (23y) of Phx, AZ, Calvin Joseph “CJ” (8yr) & Brody Stammer (6yr) of Appleton, WI, and Ellie Stadelman (1y) of Tucson, AZ, a brother in law and nieces & nephews.

He is also preceded in death by his parents Clifford & Manila, brother Gilbert, and sister Delores.

The family extends a special thanks to Theda Care & Cherry Meadows Hospice and their staff for their compassionate care during the final days of Cal’s time here with us.

We welcome you to gather to celebrate the life of Calvin Stammer on Tuesday, July 13 at 10:45 am located at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St. Appleton, WI 54911. Viewing will be from 9:00am – 10:45am with a luncheon to follow. Burial will be at 2:30 pm at Highland Memorial Cemetery. Full military honors will be held.
