Bruce Gene Otto

Bruce Gene Otto, age 67, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at his home with his family by his side. He was born on December 5, 1944, the son of the late William Sr. and Rosemary (Kronz) Otto. Bruce graduated from Seymour High School. Shortly after graduation, Bruce served our country in the National Guard. For over 30 years Bruce was a member of the Local 139 Operating Engineers Union, later retiring from Gauthier Construction, where he was a heavy machine operator. He was also a classic car enthusiast. Bruce and his son, Brent went to many shows in the Fox Valley with his 1979 GMC Diablo. They won numerous trophies including Best of Show in August 2012. Bruce was a meticulous landscaper, and enjoyed tending to his lawn and landscape. He will be missed by many dear friends and neighbors especially, his best buddy Jeff Lamers. Of all the many things that Bruce did, his grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Bruce is survived by his two children, Missie (Neil) Freetly, Rochester, MN; and Brent Gene (Kelly) Otto, Kaukauna, loving friend and caregiver, Sallie Otto, Appleton, four grandchildren, Alex and Maddie Freetly, Blake Gene and Landon Otto, one sister, Rosemary Coenen, one brother, William Jr. (Kay) Otto, one sister-in-law, MaryAnn Otto, and further survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Loren Otto, one brother-in-law, Duane Coenen, and one nephew, Ricky Otto.

Funeral Liturgy will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 11, 2012, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 East Wallace Street, with Father Andrew Kysely officiating. Friends and family may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Inurnment will take place privately at Highland Memorial Park.

Memorials are being established at the Ronald McDonald House and Children's Hospital in Bruce's name in honor of his love of children.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Theda Care Hospice, also Dr. Aristagueta and staff at Fox Valley Pulmonary, Dr. Douglas Meyer and his nurse Katie at Primary Care Associates, and Dr. Mariano of Appleton Cardiology for all their wonderful care that was given through the years. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
