In 1949 she married Joseph Offenstein and together had four children. In 1984 she married to Harold Mares, (the second love of her life). During her marriage to Harry, she enjoyed traveling, hunting, skiing and musky fishing. Bonnie enjoyed many other hobbies including bowling, gardening, watching the loons of Lake Tomahawk, reading and music.
Bonnie had a great love of music. Prior to getting married she was on track to go to the Lawrence Conservatory of Music for singing. She enjoyed singing in the church choir throughout her life.
Bonnie is survived by her children: Mark (Cindy) Offenstein, Julie (Bill) Van Den Brandt, David (Jan) Offenstein and Peter (Nancy) Offenstein, grandchildren; Scott (Missy) Offenstein, Kiley (Keith) Van de Hey, Sadie Offenstein, Nathan Offenstein, Thaddeus Offenstein, Jennie Offenstein, Sarah Offenstein and Nick Offenstein, as well as four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Mares, her sister Mary Jackson and her parents, George and Emily (Younger) Jackson.
The memorial service for Bonnie will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 724 E. South River St. A time of visitation will be held on Friday from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at the church. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund was been established at the Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology Center in Appleton
Bonnie's family would like to extend their thanks to the hospice and nursing care staff at St. Paul Elder Services, Inc. as well as the Dr. Guenther and staff at Fox Valley Hemotology and Oncology Center in Appleton.
