Blanche Verhagen

Blanche Verhagen, 84, of Kaukauna, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at home. Blanche was born on October 12, 1928 to the late Louis and Mary Verhagen. On May 6, 1947 she married Richard Verhagen at Holy Name Catholic Church in Kimberly and together they enjoyed 62 years before Richard passed away on April 23, 2010. Blanche had a heart of gold and her family was her life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved to cook and can. Blanche enjoyed golfing, bowling, camping and traveling, including her trip to Hawaii. In her later years she enjoyed watching the deer and turkeys in the back yard. Blanche was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Blanche is survived by 11 children: Bev (Clarence) Weyers, David (Audrey) Verhagen, Mary (special friend Tom) Lappen, Jeff (special friend Cindy) Verhagen, Sheila (Bob) Cook, Dennis Verhagen, Rick (Karen) Verhagen, Catherine Reetz, Brian Verhagen, Alan Verhagen and Susan Verhagen; 25 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; one sister:, Delores Hennessey; one brother: Eugene (Rosie) Verhagen; sisters-in-law: Ruth Rosin, Mary Jean VanLanen and Donna Verhagen and a brothers-in-law: Paul (Theresa) Verhagen and Russell Hassell. Blanche is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her daughter: Patricia (James) Lambie, an infant great grandson; sisters: Yvonne Hassell and an infant sister Ethel; brothers: Harlan (Ann) Verhagen, Marvin Verhagen, Averd (Gladys) Verhagen, Clayton Verhagen and; sister-in-law: Leone (Frederick) VandeHey; brothers-in-law: Joe Verhagen, an infant brother-in-law; Joe, Earl Verhagen and Mark (Irene) Verhagen, Eugene VanLanen, Ervin Rosin and Ken Hennessey.

The funeral liturgy for Blanche will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna. Father Tom Pomeroy will be officiating. Burial will take place at the parish cemetery. A visitation will take place on Wednesday at the church from 9:00 am until the time of mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
