Blanche D. Nissen Schulz

Blanche Schulz, a lifelong resident of Appleton, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 30, 2005. Blanche was born September 30, 1921 to Edward and Blanche (Bement) Brinkman. In 1940, she married Robert Nissen; he preceded her in death. Blanche worked at Zwicker Knitting Mills until the time of her marriage, after which she worked part time at Fannie Farmer Candies, Sears, and Copp’s Bakery. Blanche was an active member of Riverview Ev. Lutheran Church. On October 30, 1988, she married Arvid Schulz; he survives. The couple enjoyed their retirement years by traveling each winter to Naples, Florida, and enjoying their three homes at Anderson Lake near Mountain, Wisconsin. Wherever she went, Blanche acquired long-lasting friendships and was know for her sense of humor and her willingness to always help others. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her loving husband: Arvid Schulz of Appleton; five children: Sandee (Jack) Bergsbaken of Chubbuck, Idaho; Suzanne Butler of the town of Buchanan; Bruce (Eenie) Nissen of Appleton; Steve (Kim) Nissen of Appleton; and Bob (Chris) Nissen of Appleton. She is further survived by her four step-children: Elaine (Steve) Diedrich; Jim (Peggy) Schulz; Tom (Judy) Schulz; Brian (Angie) Schulz, all of Manitowoc. There are twenty-nine grandchildren: Todd Bergsbaken, Joel Bergsbaken, Brad (Dana) Bergsbaken, Brooke Butler, Chad Nissen, Ross Nissen, Chris (Laura) Nissen, Jenny (Dylan) Probst, David (Linda) Nissen, Patrick Nissen, Trisha (Andy) Trygstad, Brenda Vermeern, Matthew Vermeern, Mark Vermeern, Michael Nissen, Jessica (fiancé Steve Heinz) Nissen, Kayla Nissen, Daniel Diedrich, Kelly Diedrich, Sara Bohne, Jake Schulz, Jeremy Schulz, Jordan Schulz, Skyann Schulz, Ashley Schulz, Brianna Schulz, Amanda Sabian, Janessa Sabian, and Marinna Mrozinski; six great-grandchildren: Forrest Probst, Kylie Probst, Kaylee Vermeern, Paige Vermeern, Grant Trygstad, and Kelly Bergsbaken. Twin great-grandchildren will be joining the family this fall. Blanche is also survived by a special niece Jan Werner, a sister: Dorothy (Dick) Melcher of Appleton, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Nissen, a son Dennis, a son-in-law John Butler, a sister Florence Hinzman, a brother Howard (Evie) Brinkman, her mother and father-in-law Harriet and John Nissen, her mother-in-law Esther Schulz, and a brother-in-law Walter (Carol) Nissen.

The Christian Funeral for Blanche will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, June 3, 2005 at RIVERVIEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 136 W. Seymour Street in Appleton with Rev. Dennis W. Belter officiating. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 10:00 AM until the hour of the services.
