Bette J. Mach

MACH, BETTE J.

Bette J. Mach, of Appleton, age 79 years, passed away peacefully with her family at her side. She was born on January 16, 1928 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Eugene Knoebel and Stella Shebuski Knoebel-Otto. Bette graduated in 1945 from Antigo High School. On June 18, 1947, she married Robert L. Mach in Antigo, and they shared 59 wonderful years. Bette was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and National Society of Catholic Order of Foresters. Bette received her Certificate of Library Science for Library Management for Public Librarians from the University of Wisconsin Extension on May 19, 1980. She was a Librarian at the Lone Rock Public Library and assistant Librarian at Prairie du Chien for 8 years. Bette was a very avid reader, loved hand held computer games and loved to plant flowers. Robert and Bette enjoyed going on bus tours together.

Bette is survived by her husband: Robert Mach, Appleton; sons: Michael (Sue Hoffman) Mach, Madison and Kevin (Barb Kohanski) Mach, Appleton; grandsons: John (Amy Sagen) Mach, Sun Prairie; James (Erin Vanderspool) Mach, Madison; Ryan Mach, De Pere and Robert J. Mach, Green Bay; sister: Mary Ann (Frank) Fuchs, North Fond du Lac; sisters-in-law: Beulah Thomas, Little Chute; Dorothy Mach, Little Chute and Margie Mach, Kaukauna. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Bette was preceded in death by her parents, sister Dorothy Stoeger, brother Eugene P. Knoebel, father and mother-in-law Wenzel J. and Mabel P. Mach, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Stanley Mach, Florence (Richard) Pullman, Evelyn (Russell) Steinfeldt, George (Beatrice) Mach and Harry Mach.

The funeral liturgy for Bette will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1617 W. Pine St., Appleton with Fr. Dennis Ryan officiating. Entombment will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of mass. Memorials are appreciated to St. Bernard Catholic Church, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

The family would like to thank Drs. Wilson, Lewandowski and Elmer, Nancy and the staff at the Heart Institute. Enormous thanks to ThedaCare at Home Hospice, especially Sally and Jeannie.
