Age 91, passed away on Monday October 8, 2007 at Colony Oaks Care Center. Bernice was born May 22, 1916 in Lebannon, South Dakota daughter of the late Chester and Irene (Koch) Jackson. She married Robert Airis on April 6, 1940. He preceded her in death on November 19, 1997. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and First Congregational United Church of Christ in Appleton. Bernice is survived by her children Royal (Barbara) Airis, Appleton and Robin (Steve) Schuelke, Fremont. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lance Airis, Brook (Michael) Tuma, Shane and Brittanni Airis, Abby (Ryan) Huettl, Jesse Kromm (special friend Julie Elliott); her great grandchildren; Cheyenne Airis, Bailey and Peyton Tuma, Laura Kromm and her sister- in- law Janet (Robert) Owens. In addition to her parents and her husband, Bernice was preceded in death by a brother, Royal. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday October 12, 2007 at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 N. Superior St., Appleton with Pastor Jane Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. and also on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. A memorial is being established.
