Bernice A. Ashauer, age 82, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2018 surrounded by family. Bernice was born on November 13, 1935 to the late Peter and Emma (Lucassan) Vander Loop. On January 20, 1953, she married Gerald Ashauer at St. John Nepomucene Church in Little Chute. They spent 57 years of marriage together until his passing in 2010. Bernice was a woman of strong faith. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church in Mackville for the past 58 years and in her 40s became a member of the Franciscan Order. Also of great importance to Bernice was her family. She loved spending time taking local trips with them, whether that being to Bay Beach, Wednesday Dairy Queen treats, the train museum, or special birthday treats for the kids at a local establishment. The house was always filled with laughter and joy of the family and their friends. Bernice enjoyed time spent cooking, baking, gardening, and enjoying the arts especially crafts fairs and oil painting.

Bernice will be dearly missed by her children: Joseph (Linda) Ashauer, Christine Ashauer, Jeffrey (Cindy Lou) Ashauer, Cynthia (Marty) Timm, Cathryn (Mike) Timm, James Ashauer, and Jason (Sari) Ashauer; 14 grandchildren: Brianna Ashauer, Scott (Mary) Arnoldussen, Amie (Kyle) Thiel, Quinn De Deker, Triston De Deker, Jesse (Becki) Ashauer, Justin (Rachel) Ashauer, Matthew Ashauer, Maxwell Ashauer, Andrew Timm, Victoria (Ben) Verhagen, Kyle (fiancé Zoe) Timm, Zachary Ashauer, and Rebecca Ashauer; and 11 great-grandchildren: Parker and Maia Thiel, Annabelle, Gracelyn, Rosemary, Edward, Ella, Olive, and Violet Ashauer and two more on the way. She is further survived by brothers: Robert Vander Loop, William (Dorothy) Vander Loop, and Raymond (Sandra) Vander Loop; sister-in-law, Barbara Vander Loop; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Gerald Ashauer; brother, Eugene Vander Loop; sister-in-law, Jean Vander Loop; and Gerald’s five siblings and their spouses.
