Bernadette Ann Maloney

April 10, 1930 — January 17, 2013

Bernadette Ann Maloney (nee Serwas), age 82 of Appleton, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013. She was born on April 10, 1930 to the late Bernard and Dorothy Serwas. She married the love of her life, Charles Maloney Jr., on June 25, 1949 and spent 35 wonderful years together. Bernie loved life, and the most important thing in her life was her family. She was a lifelong member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and had a very deep faith. Bernie also loved playing Bingo, going to the casino, taking long rides, watching her birds, playing with her grand-puppy Penny, and volunteering with her dear friends at the Sacred Heart Quarter Store.
Bernie is survived by her children: Chuck (Laureen) Maloney of Madison; Carla Maloney of Appleton; Michael (Barbara) Maloney of Maple Grove, MN; Kathleen (Michael) Verhagen of Waukesha; and Mary Ann (Frank) Peragus of Las Vegas, NV. Grandchildren: Eric (Angela), Greg (Stacy), Tina, and Paul Verhagen; Andy and Lisa Maloney. Great-grandchildren: Brooklyn, Ava, and Kylie Verhagen. Step-grandchildren: Kia, Ashley, Scott, Candice, and Josh. Sisters-in-law: Rita Malchow, Mary Ann Hoeft, and Patsy Maloney; step sister-in-law: Mary Jo; step brother-in-law: Tommy. She is also survived by many other family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents, brothers: Paul (Mary) Serwas and Richard (May) Serwas; two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, and two step brothers-in-law.
Funeral liturgy of Bernie will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 21, 2013 at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH, 222 E. Fremont St., with Fr. Rene Balbero officiating. Hours of visitation will be held at church from 9 AM until the time of mass.
