Becky L. Fickel   1952-2021

In Appleton on December 22nd, Becky L. Fickel passed unexpectedly from this world and straight into the arms of her Lord and Savior.

Becky had a servant’s heart and it truly broke for what breaks the Lord’s: social injustice, the less fortunate, struggling single moms and those needing a second chance. She had a passion to help others in the dire moment and with big life changing transitions.  Meeting one need at a time from voucher to gas card, paper towel roll to mattress, Becky’s car and home were ever bursting with donations. She would have done anything for anyone, from securing and delivering a dresser with Bob’s help, to tracking down a stroller and pull-ups to tote along on her next home visit. She was perpetually described as the kindest, most caring and busiest of ladies. Her service to the people of the Fox Valley community, dedication as a leader thru St. Vincent DePaul and volunteering alongside Bob thru Salvation Army had been without ceasing. Her absence will not go unnoticed, as she has touched so many lives.  She was welcomed into Heaven with a chorus of angels and the sweet words “Well done, Becky, my good and faithful servant.” We can all find peace in her much-deserved rest after her loving and persistent ministry in this world.  Becky would encourage all to remember how one small gift of time, talent or treasure can be a huge blessing to that one individual in need of it.

A devout member of the Catholic Church since she was young, Becky worshipped and prayed with diligence. The last few years have been the most significant lengths of her journey in walking closer to the Lord. She would want all to know how important a personal relationship with God and salvation through Jesus are.

For God so loved the world, He gave His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16.

And although Becky held securely to the traditions of her church, her very soul was fed by devouring books by Christian authors and enthusiastically enjoying Christian worship music artists featured on the K-LOVE radio station.  She lived a life of faith in action.

Bob and Becky shared 49 years of a marriage full of loving their girls, hard work at Zaug’s, successfully opening and operating Bob’s Towing, caring for their pets and feeding and admiring neighborhood critters including birds, squirrels, bunnies, turkeys, ducks, and their favorite, two families of Sandhill cranes. Becky was so thankful and proud of her daughters and their families, eager to assist but fully aware and trusting of the immense blessings the Lord has bestowed on them. She readily saw and celebrated the uniqueness, gifts and potential in each of her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren. Her husband, Bob; Sally and Andrew the puppies and Daphne the cat; their daughters, Angela, Chrissy and Katie; sons-in-law, Jason Sargeant, Dave Belau and Kevin Barnes; as well as ten amazing grandchildren, Arik, Jakob and Alivia, Emma, Kaylee and Lukas and Kahlila, Austin, Brielle and Kylo, thank the Lord for the priceless gift Becky has always been and for the outpouring of support from family and countless friends during this difficult time. She will be missed immensely as a wife, mother, Grandma and Mema, friend, partner in ministry and champion to those in need.

Becky will be lovingly remembered on Saturday, January 22nd with visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with a Mass 11:00 am at St. Thomas More Parish, 1810 N. McDonald Street, Appleton. Masks are preferred.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Harbor House, Leaven, St. Vincent de Paul or the downtown chapter of Salvation Army.  We thank you in advance for your prayers and condolences.
