Barbara Ann Oswald

April 21, 1935 — June 22, 2007

Barb was called to her heavenly Father’s arms early on Friday, June 22, 2007 at the age of 72. She was born in Watertown, Wisconsin on April 21, 1935, daughter of the late Max and Ella (Cuttman) Noffz. On the 5th of December, 1954, she married Harold Oswald at St. Mark Ev. Lutheran Church in Watertown. Barb was born to be a caregiver. For many years she worked in the area as a nurse’s aid, both at Kaukauna Community Hospital and at the Appleton Medical Center. She was proud to have been named Employee of the Year by AMC during her work there. She also cared for the needs of her parents, those of Harold’s parents, as well as other elderly relatives and friends. Her caring spirit and generous ways were truly a gift of God. Barb will be remembered as a talented needlecrafter who enjoyed making various clothing items for family and friends. She always enjoyed the Sunday afternoon boat trips with good friends from church.

She is survived by her husband: Harold Oswald of Appleton; three children: Deb (Doug) Mattek of Cedar Grove; Sandy (Rev. James) Schumann of Orlando, Florida; and Mark (Kelly) Oswald of New London; thirteen grandchildren: Niel Mattek, Kurt (Teri) Mattek, Luke Mattek, Eric Mattek, Joey Schumann and his fiancée Melissa Butt, Heidi Schumann, Jenny Schumann, Sam Schumann, Isaac Schumann, Zachary Oswald, Sarah Oswald, Sarah Oswald, Grant Oswald, and Gabe Oswald; two great-grandchildren: Sean and Cole Mattek; a sister: Beverly (Bob) Webster of Watertown; a brother-in-law: Robert (Janet) Oswald of Cedarburg; and a sister-in-law: Marian (Gerry) Biedenbender of Germantown. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, and by an infant brother.

The Christian Funeral for Barb will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at ST. PAUL EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 302 N. Morrison Street in Appleton with Rev. Kenneth Frey officiating. Interment will be in the Wolf River Cemetery, near Fremont.
