Barb Piette, age 60, of Kimberly, passed away following a short battle with leukemia, Monday afternoon, April 7, 2008, at Appleton Medical Center, with her family at her side. She was born May 25, 1947, to the late Anton and Marie (Ver Voort) Van Nuland, in Kimberly, where she was a resident all of her life. Barb married John A. Piette, May 25, 1968; he preceded her in death January 12, 2006. She had been employed by Shopko of Kimberly for 20 years and presently was employed by Festival Foods. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Kimberly. Barb is survived by two children, Lori (Dave) Vannett, Black Creek; Jeff (Sarah) Piette, Kaukauna; four grandchildren, who she loved and enjoyed spending time with, Jacob and Sydney Vannett, Allison and Emily Piette; a sister, Mary Kay (Bill) Kaufman, Neenah; two brothers, Tom (Pat) Van Nuland, Combined Locks; Jerry Van Nuland, Appleton; her mother-in-law, Ory Piette, Appleton; two brothers-in-law, Bill (Robin) Piette, South Milwaukee; Bruce (Sandy) Piette, Black Creek; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Dan Piette, a special sister-in-law, Sharon Piette, aunts and uncles. The funeral liturgy for Barbara will be held at 12:00 pm, Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Holy Spirit, 600 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, with Father David Beaudry officiating. Entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church, on Thursday, from 10:00 am, until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established for her grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. William Guenther and his oncology staff and Mary, Eric and Jacob of Appleton Medical Center, ICU.
