Art was born on January 17, 1915 to Amede and Melanie Hofkens. Art served in the US Army during WWII in Europe. On September 18, 1948 he married Winnie Milhaupt and she preceded him in death in 1979. He worked as a carpenter all his life at Hofkens Building and Supply. Art had a real passion for fishing and was still fishing when he was 93. He also enjoyed dancing, pitching baseball, and playing cards, especially cribbage with Bernie Wautlet. Art had a special friend in his life, Rosie until she passed away and still held the Laux family in his thoughts. Art was a charter member of St. Pius X.
Art is survived by three children; Melanie Hofkens, Sheboygan, Lee (Danny) Moulding, Lakewood, Washington, Tony (Sandy) Hofkens, Neenah, four grandchildren; Jason (Caitlin) Moulding, Lisa Moulding, Kristy (Dennis) Feerick, and Matt (Laura) Hofkens, two great-grandchildren; Lauren and Shea Moulding, sisters-in-law, Jeanie (Al) Morey, Joan Milhaupt, Betty Milhaupt and Peggy Milhaupt-Desteffen, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his siblings.
The funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at ST. PIUSX CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette St. Interment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass.
The family would like to thank Appleton Retirement Community and Heartland Hospice for all they have done. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Art's name. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
