Arlene S. Hintz

October 11, 1920 — March 24, 2002

Age 81, was called to her Lord’s side on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2002. Arlene was born in the Wisconsin Township of Scott on November 11, 1920, daughter of the late Arthur and Selma (Theis) Lueke. On November 28, 1942, she married Elwood Hintz; he preceded her in death in May of 1997. For most of her life, Arlene resided in Montgomery, Alabama, where she was very active in her church life. She served as the secretary / treasurer of AAL Branch 1954, and also as president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.

Arlene is survived by her son: Darwin (Irene) Hintz of Appleton; her daughter: Barbara (Dan) Dorton of Southern Pines, North Carolina; five grandchildren: Amy (Thomas) Nogar of Appleton; Jonathan Hintz of Savannah, Georgia and his fiancée Loren; Michael (Lainie) Hintz of Appleton; Deborah Dorton of Durham, North Carolina and her fiancé Roy; Robert Dorton of Durham, North Carolina and his fiancée Angie; six great-grandchildren: Andrew, Amalia, Catherine, and Jonah Nogar; Alexander and Nicholas Hintz; a brother-in-law: Lyle Schroeter of West Bend, Wisconsin; two sisters-in-law: Mildred Hintz of Plymouth and Audrey Borkenhagen of Adell, Wisconsin. Arlene is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Elwood, a sister Judith Schroeter, and brothers-in-law Calvin Hintz and Artie Borkenhagen.

Funeral services for Arlene will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2002 at 11:00 AM at MOUNT OLIVE EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 930 East Florida Avenue, in Appleton, with Rev. Joel Zank officiating. Interment will be in Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call Tuesday, directly at the church from 10:00 AM until the hour of services.

The family would like to express their gratitude to everyone at Colony Oaks Care Center, who treated Arlene with such kindness and dignity. You cared for her as though she were your own. Thank you all so very much.
