Anne M. Lemke

August 14, 1932 — November 13, 2015

Anne M. Lemke of Appleton died on Friday, November 13, 2015 at the age of eighty-three years, three months, and zero days. God tells us in Psalm 90:12, “So teach us to number our days, that we apply our hearts unto wisdom”…. so that we also might be saved, “through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” (II Timothy 3:16).

Anne was born in Chicago on August 14, 1932, the daughter of devout Christian parents Stephen J. and Mae D. (Helwig) Pollack. By word and example, Anne's parents set the tone for her life of loving God and serving others.

The life of Anne and that of William A. Lemke, an Appleton native, changed in 1958 when at their first meeting in Chicago, the seeds for a special sense of admiration and affection were planted. They were married in 1959 and the two became as one. In their lives, they developed their own private story of love as they cherished the joys of togetherness, devotion, mutual respect, and unity in the Lord.

God blessed them with three children and the means to provide for the goodness of life. The family enjoyed residences in Northbrook and Libertyville, Illinois. In 2003, Anne and Bill left the Chicagoland area and settled in Appleton.

With her love, creativity, and other talents Anne will be missed by her family and friends. Anne wanted to be remembered by all as knowing that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God. She believed in God the Father as Creator of the world, and all things; God the Holy Spirit as giver of faith and all spiritual blessings; and Jesus as true God and true man, the Savior of all mankind. Knowing that her sins were forgiven by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, Anne never feared death nor damnation, having been assured a place in heaven by the grace of the Triune God. Anne lived believing in God's Word that, “To live is Christ; to die is gain.” (Philippians 1:21). Praise God for the life of Anne M. Lemke; loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and child of God.

Anne is survived by her husband: William Lemke; her son: William Lemke; two daughters: Karen (Thomas) Medema and Allyson (Eric) Breiland; seven grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Sandra (Monroe) Trout and Betty Pollack; and a brother-in-law: Allen Chase. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, brothers: Stephen J. (Violet) Pollack and John E. Pollack, and a sister-in-law: Janet Lemke Chase.

Visitation for Anne will take place at St. Peter Lutheran Church, N2740 French Road in Appleton, on Wednesday, November 18, beginning at 9:00 AM. Her Christian Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Tim Glende officiating. The message will attest to the truths found in the book of Revelation. In lieu of flowers, any donations will be directed to the St. Peter Building Project.
