Annarene Schlais, age 93, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on Tuesday morning, April 10, 2012. She was born in Amasa, Michigan on December 6, 1918, daughter of the late John and Rose Filek. Annarene married Raymond Schlais on January 23, 1943. He preceded her in death August 12, 2005. She enjoyed many odd jobs and eventually retired as head cook of Freedom High School.
Annarene was a loving homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking and sewing. She also enjoyed traveling, camping and going on cruises with family members and friends.
She is survived by two daughters: Anna (Leon) Dombrowski of Ripon and Linda (Richard) DeRoche of Appleton; two grandsons: David (Alishia) DeRoche of Klamath Falls, Oregon and Steven (Sarah) DeRoche of Appleton; four great-grandchilden: Mauricio, Elliott, Liam and Quinn DeRoche; and one sister: Marion Cayer of Hurley. Annarene is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond, parents John and Rose Filek, brothers-in-law Anthony, Alvin and Eugene Schlais and a sister-in-law Elise Hoglend.
A funeral liturgy for Annarene will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL. Friends may call the funeral home Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Online condolences may be expressed at www.wichmannfargo.com.
