Coach Mahoney was the most influential person in my high school years. He believed in me at times I doubted myself. He inspired me and encouraged me and always knew I could do more than I ever thought. HE was the one who encourage me to go to college. Thank God for people like him. I will never forget when I decided to run my first marathon. Somehow he found out and out of nowhere I saw him on the side of the road, shouting and giving me the extra push like he always did at our cross country meets. What an incredible man full of compassion. He impacted so many lives --- mine included. RIP Mr. Mahoney -- enjoy your eternal life. "For he was a good man, full of faith and brought many to the Lord" - Acts 11:24

I’ve known Andy all my life. He is the big brother of my dearest friend, Marianna. I remember him as someone we all looked up to. I know that this is a tremendous loss to every member of this family. You are all in my thoughts and you all have a place in my fondest memories and in my heart. I send you all my love.

My cross country career was about two months long. I was awful at it but Coach Mahoney let me do my thing and work at it. He was one of the most supportive figures in high school when I was applying to college. He gave me a glowing recommendation to one of the greatest schools (University of Chicago) which I was accepted to and I know that he played an important role in that. I will be donating to SPLC. Live it up in Heaven, Coach Mahoney! You will be missed.

Andy was a colleague of mine, as we both worked with kids going through the college admission process - he on the high school side and me at colleges/universities. We both have been active within the Wisconsin Association for College Admission Counseling.
Andy was well-respected by all who met him. His genuine caring and positive outlook were blessings to his many friends and colleagues. I am so sorry to say goodbye to him.

Coach had a knack for showing up at key points in the race cheering us on and knowing just what to say to motivate the team. My favorite quote was at our end-of-season award ceremony "watch these people, because these are going to be the leaders in life." His words are always in my head. Thanks Coach and Rest in Peace.

Andy was a classmate of mine at Holy Cross Seminary on the campus of Notre Dame. He has always been and always will be a leader. He beat me to heaven even! He volunteered to be one of my caregivers for a week following a liver transplant I had in 2014. A man who gave his time, hands and feet, and wonderful heart. He and his wife were to come visit me in Idaho in two weeks! What a shock. He lived a full, dedicated and wholesome life... a model for us all. We will connect again before long.

I went to Xavier high School and I graduated in 1997. Mr. Mahoney was my track coach for all four years and he was also my guidance counselor. He would always talk to me about any problems I had in life.I remember one day that I was running the track at Xavier high School by myself and mr. Mahoney came out and asked me if I was all right and I told him no. He took the time to run with me on the track and talked about my promise. You are a great friend mr. Mahoney and you always be missed.

Beth, my dear friend, I have not stopped thinking about you and your family. I met Andy a handful of times but the greatest way to know just how amazing of a human he was, was by the way you described him, how your face lit up when you talked about him and how much you clearly loved him. I am so sorry for this loss and can only hope you find healing in time. With all my love.
