BUCKNER, ALVENA M.

Alvena M. Buckner, age 88, of Appleton, died on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital with her family at her side. Alvena was born on February 28, 1920, in Papillion, Nebraska, to the late Fredrick and Freida (Evers) Uhe. She married Earl Buckner, on October 30, 1937 in NE; he preceded her in death on December 5, 1995. Alvena was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her extended family, traveling, and crafting—especially ceramics. Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis (Kevin) Kohlbeck, Homer, AK; her sons, Earl (Bev) Buckner, Jr., Omaha, NE; James Buckner, Appleton; Floyd (Holly) Buckner, Appleton; her brothers, Fredrick (Rose) Uhe Jr., Papillion, NE; and Elmer Uhe, Richfield, NE; her sisters, Leona Smith, Papillion, NE; Margaret (Archie) McVicar, Detroit, MI; her daughter-in-law, Arlene Buckner, Louisville, KY; her 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Buckner; her sisters, Irene Uhe and Gladys Gloe; her brother, Richard Uhe; her grandson, Robert Kohlbeck; her great granddaughter, Brittany Kohlbeck and her great grandson, Ryan Sears. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at Mount Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, 930 East Florida Avenue, Appleton, with Rev. Robert Raasch officiating. Friends may call directly at Mount Ev. Lutheran Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
