Alice Rose Ludke

Alice Rose Ludke, 94, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Alice was born on January 15, 1916 to Henry and Lena Esler in Brillion. They moved to Kaukauna when Alice was 3, and they settled on Seventh Street where she lived until April 2010.

Alice was kind, caring, giving, loved animals and was always taking in a stray or feeding the local wildlife. Her door was always open and she was always willing to set an extra plate for dinner. Alice was a diehard Packer fan and never missed watching or listening a game. Her close family and friends knew better than to interrupt her during a game. She was also a wonderful cook, known for her sea foam and sour cream coffee cake. She also loved volunteering at St. Mary's Grade School. Most of all Alice was a compassionate person, always there for everyone and was always ready to help. She was a member of St. Katharine Drexel Parish, the Kaukauna Homemakers Club and the Survivors Club.

Alice is survived by her daughters; Kay Rogers, Kaukauna, Kris (Tom) Knorr, Neenah, ten grandchildren; Michael, Steven, Patrick, Kevin, Laurie, Scott, Corey, Heather, Holly Rogers and Amy (Doug) Frederickson, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Fritz, a son Richard, a sister; Orpha Kobussen, and a brother; Myron “Mush” Esler.

The funeral liturgy for Alice will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2010 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL, ST. MARY CHURCH (119 W. Seventh St. Kaukauna) at 11:00 AM with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the church. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established in Alice's name. The family would like to thank her special neighbors; Maynard and Janice Borchert, special friends; Jane Brogan, Bernice Betters, Mary Britten, and Tom Conrad. Another thanks to Dr. Baum, the St. Elizabeth 4 south nursing staff, and the wonderful staff at Kindred Hearts, for giving so much of themselves to make Alice's stay enjoyable.
