Alice R. Durkee

October 17, 1914 — March 6, 2003

Age 88, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2003 at Appleton Medical Center. She was born on October 17, 1914 in Dale, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Sam and Tillie (Gaull) Mews. Alice was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, crafts, square dancing, and was known for her love for her family and friends. Alice was a longtime member of Peace United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son Eugene (Twyla) Durkee of Menasha, her grandchildren Gina Durkee, Beth (David) Appal, Jeff, and Jason Yarmak, Debbi (Darren) Siegal, Eric Yarmak, and Kevin Yarmak; and her son-in-law Isaac Yarmak. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon in 1984, her daughter Bonnie Yarmak, her grandson Alan Yarmak, her sisters Leona Bennett, Virginia Erdmann; her brothers Irving, and Leonard Mews.

A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, March 9, 2003 at 2:00 PM at the Fargo Funeral Home with the Rev. Diane Rew-Gottfried officiating. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
