Alice N. Begun

Alice Natalia Begun, died on March 2, 2012, at the age of 90. Alice was born in La Crosse on August 15, 1921, the daughter of Ben and Natalia (Johnson) Thomasgard. Alice married Charles Begun on January 30, 1942 in Denver, Colorado while he was stationed there in the service. Alice embodied the traditional homemaker, enjoying gardening, cooking, sewing and raising her family. Alice took great pride in her gardens and yard. She was active in the Methodist Church and involved in numerous bridge clubs. She and Charlie enjoyed a long retirement in Arkansas.

Alice is survived by three sons: Larry (Sandra) Begun of Hanover, Illinois; Tom (Debbie) Begun of Port Washington, and Tim (Kristy) Begun of Menasha; a son-in-law: Tom Hall of Green Bay; four grandchildren: Chris Hall (friend Celeste) of Belize, Jenny (Jaime) Hall-Fink of Wilmette, Illinois, Jake Begun of Madison, and Sam Begun of Madison. There are also three great-grandchildren: Halle, Wyatt, and Gavin Fink. Alice was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles, daughter Barbara Hall, two sisters Helen Clausius and Eleanor Keller, and three brothers Ralph, Paul and Robert Thomasgard.

A special thanks to the staff at Sterling House Assisted Living in Neenah and AseraCare Hospice for their friendship and care. A family memorial is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, a gift can be made to the Salvation Army, Red Cross or the charity of your choice.
