Age 94, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Franciscan Care Center. She was born on January 24, 1912 in Appleton to the late Edmund and Effie (Gosha) Miller. Alice went on to graduate from Appleton High School. On October 2, 1937 she married Adrain Holtz in Appleton and they shared 59 wonderful years until he preceded her in death on January 5, 1997. Alice was a dedicated homemaker and worked at Zwicker Knitting Mill for 20 years. She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Alice enjoyed reading, playing cards, and crochet; but above all, she loved caring for her family.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Sandra (Robert) Winter, Eagle River, Ronald Holtz, Appleton; grandchildren: Michael (Tracy) Winter, Eagle River, Julie (Andreas) Paez, Eagle River, Jeremiah (Ahava) Christen, Appleton; 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She is further survived by her brother, Murrel Miller, West Bend; sisters-in-law: Ruth Miller, Appleton, Ada Lambie, Racine; brother-in-law: William Wilharms, Appleton. In addition to her parents and her loving husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Kathleen Staeffler, Marvel Peotter, Pearl Schmidt; and her brother, Edmund Miller.

Funeral services for Alice will be held on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the Star of Hope Chapel Mausoleum located in Appleton’s Highland Memorial Park (3131 North Richmond Street) with Pastor Benjamin Berger officiating. Friends may call directly at the chapel from 11:30 A.M. until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established in her name.
