Age 85, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton on March 22, 2003. He was born in Kimberly on October 3, 1917, son of the late Peter and Johanna (Vander Heiden) Ruys. On June 3, 1944, he married Irene Emmers at St. Paul Catholic Church in Combined Locks. They enjoyed 58 years together. Albert was proud to work at Kimberly Clark as a millwright for 42 years. For the past few years he looked forward to volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul on Monday mornings with Dr. Van Lieshout’s crew. Being a millwright, Albert enjoyed fixing and tinkering at home. He had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and was faithful to the daily rosary. His favorite expression was, “It doesn’t make any difference!”

Albert is survived by his wife, Irene; 11 children: Bill (Janet) Ruys of De Pere, Irene (David) Nelson of Merritt Island, FL, Mary (Lyle) Ellenbecker of Kaukauna, Joan (Michael) Hogan of Watertown, Tony Ruys of Darboy, Anne (Mike) Locy of Appleton, Katy Ruys of Fox Lake, Laura Ruys of Appleton, John (Jenny) Ruys of Combined Locks, Therese (Dick) Bosch of Darboy, and Sarah (Todd) Olson of Wausau; 18 grandchildren; two brothers: Peter (Marie) Ruys of Kimberly and Nick (Grace) Ruys of Kimberly; a sister, Sister Alberta Anne Ruys of St. Louis; further survived by other relatives and friends.

Albert is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Anna Hopfensperger and Sister Mary Joanna Ruys.

The funeral liturgy will be at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at HOLY NAME OF JESUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, with Fr. Robert Vandenberg officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Kaukauna.

The family extends a special thank you to the staffs at the C.C.U. and I.C.U. at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
