Albert "Al" Volpintesta

October 21, 1923 — September 12, 2015

Albert E “Al” aka “The Godfather” Volpintesta passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on September 12, 2015. Al was born in Racine WI on October 21, 1923 to Emil and Mary Volpintesta.

On May 20, 1950 he married Nancy Rosenfeldt in Oconto WI. The couple settled in Appleton.

Al worked in the paper industry for many years, retiring from Valmet in 1993. He and Nancy have been members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for more than 50 years. In his younger years he was involved in many church activities and committees. Al was a member of the Barbershoppers of the Fox Valley and was named Barbershopper of the year. He spent many enjoyable summers at their cottage in Northern Wisconsin with family and friends. He was an avid Packer fan and was among the crowd at the infamous “Ice Bowl”.

Throughout his children's lives, Al was always there to help with their numerous activities.

Al is survived in death by his wife Nancy Volpintesta, Appleton; his daughter Roxanne Volpintesta, Appleton; his sons Mark (Lori) Volpintesta, Appleton; Bart (Tara) Volpintesta, Nashville TN; his grandsons Dylan, Collin, Maxwell and Samuel Volpintesta; his sister Angeline (Arthur) Bielefeldt, Racine WI; his sisters-in-law Karla Rosenfeldt, Appleton; Barbara Rosenfeldt, Appleton; his brother-in-law Robert Nitz, Appleton, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Anthony Volpintesta; sister-in-law Joyce Volpintesta; father-in-law Otto Rosenfeldt; mother-in-law Joyous Rosenfeldt; brother-in-law Rodney Rosenfeldt.

Funeral Services for Albert will be at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 222 E. Fremont Street in Appleton on Thursday September 17, 2015 at 11:00am. Visitation will be at Wichmann Funeral Home, Tri County Location on Wednesday September 16, 2015 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Visitation will continue at church on Thursday morning from 9:00am to 10:45am. The family thanks the staff at Appleton Medical Center for their care and compassion, and the staff at Oakridge Gardens.
