Age 92, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Sunday, November 18, 2001. Agnes was born to the late Myron and Mary (Robinson) Powell on March 1, 1909 in the Village of Stockbridge. She graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1926. On June 12, 1929, she married the late Herbert Martzahl at St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna. In 1947 they bought a farm at Five Corners and farmed for more than forty years. Agnes was a proud and active member of the Christian Mothers at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Black Creek. She was proud of her big family and loved her children and grandchildren. Agnes is survived by 6 daughters; Rita (Gerald) Buchberger of De Pere, Judy (Ed) Pahl of Clintonville, Norma (Dennis) Van Elzen of Menasha, Sue Ann (Harold) O. Schroeder of Appleton, Jean (Gerald) Bauman of Fremont and Nancy Deitz of New London; 4 sons; Ernest (Joy) Martzahl of Burchmel, Iowa, Donald (Shirley) Martzahl of Hortonville, Melvin (Special friend, Diane) Martzahl of Appleton and Phillip “Fuzzy” (Becky) Martzahl of De Pere; 48 grandchildren; 101 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, James Herbert ( Marie) Powell of Kaukauna, Eugene (Murial) Powell of Kaukauna, Robert (Doris) Powell of Milwaukee and Martin (Lorraine) Powell of Waukesha; 1 brother-in-law and special friend, Le Roy Balza of Kaukauna; and 1 sister-in-law, Viola (William) Powell of Green Bay. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Agnes is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert, 1 daughter Laverne; 4 sons, Leo, Bruce, Myron, and infant; 3 sisters, Ila, Anna and Lucille; and 2 brothers William and Leo. The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on on Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at SAINT MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, Black Creek, with Father Paul Paider officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 20, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.
