Age 79, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Wednesday, October 06, 2004. She was born in Combined Locks on October 23, 1924, daughter of the late George and Johanna (Ver Hallen) Koenen. On July 10, 1948, she married Richard Van Ryzin in Combined Locks. Ada spent most of her time thinking about her family. She never forgot a birthday or an anniversary. Whenever someone visited her home, especially her grandchildren, she always had their favorite treats for them to enjoy. Ada was an avid Brewers and Packers fan and often spent time watching them on TV and listening to them on the radio. She enjoyed her trips with Rick when they went to California to visit their daughters and grandchildren, attending theater productions and playing games with her grandchildren. Ada was a brilliant shopper and had a knack for finding the best deals.

Ada is survived by her husband Rick; children: Jean de Vera of San Jose, CA, Carol (Carter) Njus of San Rafael, CA, Robert (Sharon) Van Ryzin of Waupaca, Kenneth (Mary) Van Ryzin of Kaukauna; grandchildren: Valerie and Kelsey Njus, and Jackie, Nancy and Dan Van Ryzin; sisters: Harriet (John) Rietveld of Combined Locks, Gertrude Koenen of Appleton, Mildred Wachtendonk of Kimberly, Margaret Pennings of Appleton and Johanna (George) Heider of Neenah. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Ada was preceded in death by her brother, Anton, and a sister, Margaret.

The funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2004, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 East Lourdes Drive, Appleton, with Fr. Harold Berryman officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Holy Name Cemetery, Kimberly
