Age 88, passed away at Appleton Medical Center on Thursday, December 2, 2009. He was born in Appleton on October 14, 1921 in Appleton, the son of Walter and Adelia Boettcher. Del graduated from Appleton Senior High in 1939. He attended the University of Minnesota to study agriculture and UW-Milwaukee to study business administration. He served in the U.S. Army, Asian-Pacific theater of Operations, during World War II. In 1947 Del and his father (Walter) founded the Valley Meat Service which Del operated for 28 years. He married Charlotte J. Brandt on September 10, 1949 in Milwaukee and they spent 52 wonderful years together in Appleton. In 1974 he founded A. L. Boettcher and Company, Inc. and was corporate president until his death. He was past president of the Appleton Evening Lions Club, and Club secretary for 25 years. He was a lifetime member of the Appleton Elks Club, the American Legion, UCT, and Zion Lutheran Church. Del loved to travel, bowl, golf, boat, and attend Packer games.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and will be sadly missed by his son Jeffrey (Nancee) Boettcher of Menomonee Falls, WI; and his granddaughters: Amy (William) Butrymowicz of Madison, WI and Lt. Julie Boettcher USN of Saratoga Springs, NY. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Adelia, wife Charlotte, and daughter, Jill Adelia who died in infancy.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2009 at ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, 912 N. Oneida St., Appleton. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Appleton.
