Woodrow A. Russell, age 91, of Appleton, died unexpectedly, Wednesday afternoon, March 21, 2007. He was born February 23, 1916, to the late Joseph A. and Anna B. (Chagnon) Russell, in Rhinelander, WI. Woodrow served with the United States Army during WW II. He had been a resident of Prentiss, Mississippi from 1967 to 1999, where he was employed by St. Regis Paper Company. Following his retirement, Woodrow moved to Appleton. He enjoyed gardening and antiquing. Woodrow is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mariana (Williams) Russell; a son, James Robert (Beverly) Russell, Appleton; a daughter, Raeana Lou “Susie” (Louis) Oleszkiewicz, Fenton, MI; six grandchildren, Bryan J. (Cheryl) Russell, Mark T. (Julie K.) Russell, Luke M. Russell, Chad Meidl, Michelle (Nate) Robertson and Bennett Meidl; ten great grandchildren; four siblings, Roy (Patsy) Russell, Rhinelander; Harold Russell, Rochester, MN; Rayburn Matas, Londonderry, NH; Ruth Jackson, Lake Lucerne, NY; two sisters-in-law, Veronica Russell, Tinley Park, IL; Pauline E. Williams, Sacramento, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bennett and Thomas Russell, seven sisters, Blanche Spear, Florence Clough, Mary Butterfield, Mildred Waters, Joyce Elenz, Patricia Smith and Jean Goepner. Funeral services for Woodrow will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the funeral home, with Reverend Mark Russell officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 pm, Friday and on Saturday, from 10:00 am, until the time of the service. A memorial fund is being established.
