William J. Wise, age 90, formerly of North Port, FL passed away at Theda Clark Medical Center on Wednesday, June 20, 2007. He was born in West View, PA on April 19, 1917, son of the late Walter and Eva (Walker) Wise. He attended and graduated in 1941 from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA where he played football. On August 29, 1942 he married his wife of 64 years, Mary Alta Nablo Wise. Bill was proud to serve in England and Normandy, France in the United States Army Air Corp., 510th Fighter Squadron, during World War II. He spent most of his life in Pennsylvania and served as an industrial development manager for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Bill further served as Justice of the Peace in Hampton Township, PA. In retirement, Bill loved boating, playing bridge, and especially competitive ping pong.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary; son, Jim (Linda) Wise of Menasha; daughter, Gail Ford of Union City, PA; grandchildren: Daniel (Jessica) Ford and Jessica (Cliff) Burk of Pennsylvania; four great-grandchildren. He is further survived by other family and friends. He is preceded in death by a brother, Robert (Verna) Wise; sister, Helen (Robert) Corley; and a son-in-law, Schuyler Ford.
A celebration of life will be conducted at CHRIST THE ROCK COMMUNITY CHURCH, (W6254 Hwy 10&114), Menasha, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2007 with Pastor Kris Schneider officiating. Friends may call directly at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the celebration. Burial will be in Chapmanville Cemetery, Chapmanville, PA.
