Bill enjoyed fishing, checking his trail cams, flying drones, fixing anything and everything, and spending time with friends four wheeling up north. He will be remembered most as a devoted husband and loving father to his only daughter, Lisa. Bill had a sense of humor that lit up a room, was extremely generous, and was always there when someone needed him. He was even a great doggie grandpa to Rosie.
Bill is survived by his wife: Debbie; daughter: Lisa (Matthew) Lapin; siblings: Judi Vandeberg, Marnie (Lloyd) Rollefson, Tim (Holly) Hoks, Mike (Joanne) Hoks, Connie Guenzel; mother-in-law: Marjorie Kappell; sisters- and brothers-in-law: John (Joline) Kappell, Bonnie (Dennis) Ahlborg, Steve (Sue) Kappell, Rick (Jane) Kappell, and Sue Hoks; 39 nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents: Emmett and Georgie Hoks; a brother: Bob Hoks; and his father-in-law: John Kappell.
The funeral liturgy will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 19, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton, with Fr. Bill Swichtenberg officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 am until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton.
Family and friends describe Bill as an amazing man with a heart of gold. Always with a kind word and funny story, he was someone who took the time to connect and help with whatever was needed. Bill Hoks will always be loved, and truly missed. As Mitch Album writes, “Life has an end. Love doesn’t.” Bill will remain in our hearts forever.
