Age 81, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2003. Bill was born in Kaukauna on September 23, 1921, son of the late Walter and Catherine (Dolan) Martzahl. On April 3, 1948, he married the former Dorothy Stephani; she preceded him in death in 2002. Bill entered the United States Navy at the age of nineteen, and retired after twenty years of faithful service. Following his discharge, he worked as a meat cutter at Kroger’s and Food Queen in Appleton.
He is survived by two children: Michael (Lois) Martzahl of Jackson, New Jersey and Mary Katherine “Trina” (Steve) Morlock of Greenville; two grandchildren: Christine Morlock and Greg Morlock; a brother: Robert Martzahl of Kaukauna; two sisters: Mary Lappen of Kaukauna and Patricia Siebers of Kaukauna; and three sisters-in-law: Caroline (Milo) Rettler, Marcella Rettler, and Helen Murphy all of Black Creek. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, a sister Lillian (Donald) Hopfensperger, sisters-in-law Ceil Martzahl, Polly (Gene) Weyenberg, and Isabelle (Cyril) Fries; and brothers-in-law Donald Lappen, Dick Siebers, Jerome Rettler, John Murphy, Leo (Vi) Stephani, and Raymond (Mary) Stephani.
The funeral liturgy for Bill will be held at 12:30 PM on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at HOLY ANGELS CATHOLIC CHURCH in Darboy with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Saturday from 10:30 AM until the hour of the service.
